Patrick gortler is on the way to becoming a pro

While the name gortler appeared twice in the FC eintracht bamberg squad at the last game before the winter break, this will no longer be the case at the start of the second half of the season. After nicolas gortler moved to kemmern, patrick gortler is also leaving the bavarian league club: he will be available from 1. January under contract with FC ingolstadt, a third-division club in upper bavaria.

"A bitter loss, but an award for the excellent training at FC eintracht bamberg", says the press release of the up-and-comer. Patrick gortler (21) is the FCE’s most successful goal scorer, ranking fourth in the league with 13 goals.

"Our goal is to develop and prepare players for rough tasks. Patrick has been with FC eintracht since D-youth and has now worked his way up to this step in two and a half years in the men’s game", says head of department sascha dorsch: "of course it’s nostalgic, but in the end it’s a logical step", dorsch continues. Despite the departure of two offensive players, coach michael hutzler is optimistic about the future: "we have a young, good squad with many players who can fill this gap and will now get more playing time."

Training kicks off on a three-cornered note

The transfer was brokered by gerd schimmer, who maintains friendly relations with roland reichel, responsible for the nlz and U21. "I therefore knew that the FCI was looking for a center forward for both the U21 and the professional team", so shimmer. Gortler spent two days training in ingolstadt. Shortly the final agreement was reached. Already on 6. January is the start of training. Gortler will initially be part of the U21 team, which is ranked 6th in the sud bavarian league.

"One notices immediately how professionally the whole thing runs in such an association", the powerful shot gortler describes his first impressions – and hopes to make the jump to the third division squad. "Of course, it is a big leap with drastic changes for me. But I have thought it over very carefully. I’m looking forward to the challenge and will give everything I’ve got to make it into the professional squad at some point", according to gortler.

So now he has a one-and-a-half-year contract as a licensed player, while his studies to become a teacher are on hold. A decision that involves a manageable risk: he can take the step backwards. It would be worse to be accused of not having at least tried.
