Ten years of solar power from the school roof: ebermannstadters get their deposits back

In december 2008, the photovoltaic system on the roof of the primary and secondary school went into operation. More than half of the investment costs were financed by contributions from the public purse, and now the repayment is being made.

With the construction of the solar plant on the roof of the school, the municipal utility of ebermannstadt had offered the citizens an opportunity to invest their money in an environmentally friendly local power supply. The offer attracted considerable interest at the time, so that more than half of the investment costs, amounting to 170 euros, were covered.000 euros was financed via burger deposits. Now the contracts are expiring and the deposits are being repaid. Due to the good condition of the photovoltaic system, it will continue to be operated for the time being, according to the municipal utilities.

The photovoltaic system on the roof of the school was the first installation of the municipal utility to generate renewable electricity with the help of the sun. Since its commissioning in december 2008, it has supplied a total of 350.000 kwh of environmentally friendly electricity, thus reducing CO2 emissions by around 300 metric tons. The plant has been running smoothly for the last ten years and has also served as a showpiece for the installation companies. The elementary and secondary school that provided the roof was given a share of the profits in return and was thus able to teach its students about climate protection and technology in a vivid way.

Due to the deterioration of the framework, especially in the demand for renewable energy and the increased legal requirements for loan transactions, the municipal utilities are currently unable to offer a follow-up project.
